Background
Leading global tyre manufacturer and longstanding Prologis UK customer, Hankook Tyre UK’s (Hankook) continued growth meant that they required a larger unit for their logistics operations, doubling the size of their existing logistics centre.
Hankook operates its UK distribution hub from Prologis Apex Park, near Daventry, a prime location within the ‘Golden Triangle’ of logistics. Hankook approached us as a trusted long-term partner to facilitate their operational growth and expansion through a tailored, build to suit warehouse.
Growth through collaboration
Just a stone’s throw away from Hankook’s existing site, we worked with Benniman Construction to deliver a new, state-of-the-art distribution centre which featured a high-quality build specification with excellent sustainability credentials.
The end-to-end collaborative process, from initial talks and design, right through to completion, resulted in the new 357,668 sq. ft. unit, DC9, being delivered early and to an impeccable standard, with no defects and BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC A ratings.
Regular onsite and virtual meetings with Hankook and all delivery partners allowed everyone to have visibility over the progress of the build. Given the international nature of the business, we set up both internal and external livestream cameras on site which allowed Hankook’s leadership team to see the project’s progress, wherever they were in the world.
As industry leaders, we used our expertise to provide advice to Hankook on their fit-out options, including racking layouts and LED lighting which are being delivered through Prologis Essentials.
Our team exceeded expectations to ensure that Hankook’s new unit ticked all of the right boxes, including an enhanced amenity area at the site and the planting of two memorial cherry trees at the request of Hankook, something which was very important to the customer.
